Steven G. Weiss, MD
Dr. Steven G. Weiss is a board-certified Allergist and Immunologist who has proudly served patients throughout the Tampa Bay area since 1984. With more than four decades of experience, he specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, allergies, and immunologic conditions.
Dr. Weiss earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at Mt. Zion Hospital in San Francisco, California, followed by an Allergy and Immunology fellowship at the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Weiss has been actively involved in the medical community and has held several leadership positions. He served as President of the Medical Staff at Mease Hospitals and as a member of the Board of Trustees of Mease Healthcare.
Dr. Weiss has been recognized throughout his career for his contributions to patient care and the medical community, receiving honors including Top Doctors in America, Best Doctors in Tampa Bay, U.S. News & World Report Top Doctors, Compassionate Physician Recognition, the Top 10 Doctors Award, and Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare.

Leah R. Chernin, DO
Dr. Leah R. Chernin joined her father, Dr. Steven G. Weiss, in practice in 2014. Board certified in both Allergy & Immunology and Pediatrics, Dr. Chernin specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, allergies, and immunologic conditions. She provides compassionate, comprehensive care to both pediatric and adult patients.
Dr. Chernin earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida and her medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her pediatric residency at Lutheran General Children’s Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois, followed by an Allergy & Immunology fellowship at University Hospitals Richmond Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Chernin is actively involved in the medical community and has presented at the national level, contributed to a published book chapter, and authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed medical journals. She brings her extensive training and experience to every patient encounter, with a focus on individualized care and helping patients achieve better control of their allergies, asthma, and immunologic conditions.
Dr. Chernin is proud to care for patients throughout the community and welcomes both new and established pediatric and adult patients.
Serena Shaffren, MD
Dr. Serena Shaffren provides specialized Allergy & Immunology care for pediatric and adult patients throughout the Tampa Bay area. As a Florida native, she is passionate about giving back to the community and providing personalized, patient-centered care to individuals and families of all ages.
Dr. Shaffren earned her medical degree from the University of Florida before completing her pediatric residency at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. She then completed her fellowship in Allergy & Immunology through the University of South Florida at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, where she served as Chief Fellow during her final year.
In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Shaffren has participated in international research collaborations, presented her work at national medical conferences, and served on several specialty committees within the field of Allergy & Immunology.
Dr. Shaffren is dedicated to helping patients better understand and manage their allergic and immunologic conditions through individualized treatment and compassionate care. She looks forward to welcoming both new and existing patients.
